Despite a mass powercut in central Auckland today, hundreds of people gathered with placards in support of endangered animals and to have their pets blessed.
Each year SPCA Auckland celebrates the life of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, by providing the opportunity to have a pet blessed by the ministers at St Matthews-in-the-City.
